About the role

The Asset & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the effective management of the company's physical assets and inventory to ensure optimal utilization, control, and cost-efficiency. They will develop and implement comprehensive asset and inventory management strategies, manage a team of professionals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational and financial objectives.

Key responsibilities

  1. Asset Management:

• Develop and implement asset management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure proper acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of physical assets • Maintain a comprehensive asset register, including detailed information on asset types, locations, conditions, and depreciation • Oversee the periodic physical verification of assets and reconcile discrepancies • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance, repair, and replacement of assets • Analyze asset utilization data and identify opportunities to optimize asset allocation and utilization • Manage the asset disposal process, including the sale or donation of surplus or obsolete assets

  1. Inventory Management:

• Develop and implement inventory management strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimize carrying costs, and ensure product availability • Establish and monitor inventory control processes, including forecasting, ordering, receiving, storage, and distribution • Implement and maintain inventory management systems and technologies to enhance visibility, accuracy, and efficiency • Analyze inventory data to identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess inventory, and develop strategies to optimize inventory levels • Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales teams to align inventory levels with demand and supply chain requirements • Ensure accurate and timely inventory reporting, including stock levels, turnover rates, and inventory valuation

  1. Risk Management and Compliance:

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with asset and inventory management, such as theft, damage, or obsolescence • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies related to asset and inventory management • Implement and maintain appropriate security measures, insurance coverage, and disaster recovery plans for physical assets and inventory • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure the accuracy and integrity of asset and inventory records

  1. Continuous Improvement and Reporting:

• Analyze asset and inventory performance data to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings • Implement lean and Six Sigma principles to streamline asset and inventory management processes • Provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management on asset and inventory performance, risks, and strategic initiatives • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align asset and inventory management strategies with the overall business objectives

  1. Team Management and Development:

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of asset and inventory professionals, including setting goals, providing coaching, and evaluating performance • Implement training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and accountability within the asset and inventory management function

Requirements

• Minimum of a university degree in accounting, finance, or related field from a reputable University. • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Asset Management, Inventory, Real Estate Management • Experience from Professional Services firm is an added advantage • Experience in managing and leading a team of asset and inventory professionals • Experience in developing and implementing successful asset and inventory management strategies and processes • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders • A professional qualification in accounting such as ACA/ACCA is mandatory • Proficient in using asset and inventory management software and tools
